Maria Emília Xavier Guimarães

Possui graduação em Bacharelado Em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1988), mestrado em Física pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (1991), doutorado em Física Teórica pela Université Pierre et Marie Curie (1996) e pós-doutorado em Teoria de Campos pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (1998) . Atualmente é professora associada 4 da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Tem experiência na área de Física, com ênfase em Teoria Geral de Partículas e Campos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: teorias escalares-tensoriais da gravitação, cordas cósmicas, polarização do vácuo, defeitos topológicos e cosmologia. Atualmente, é Coordenadora do Curso de Graduação em Licenciatura em Física do Instituto de Física da UFF (gestão 2021-2025), Membro do Colegiado do Instituto de Física da UFF e Conselheira Suplente da Sociedade Brasileira de Física (gestão 2021-2023).
