Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Estadual Mikhail Vasilievich Lomonosov (1988), mestrado em Física Nuclear pela Universidade Estadual Mijail Vasilievich Lomonosov (1988) e doutorado em Física pelo Centro de Estudios Aplicados al Desrrollo Nuclear (1995). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal Fluminense. Tem experiência na área de Física, com ênfase em Reações Nucleares e Espalhamento (Reações Específicas), atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: break-up, espalhamento elástico, fusão, canais acoplados e espalhamento inelástico.
